Disturbing Death Eater Moments In 'Harry Potter' The Movies Wouldn't Dare Show You

Fenrir Greyback is an evil character; there's no doubt about that. The Death Eater-werewolf takes pleasure in attacking his victims and heeds every command of Lord Voldemort. What's particularly sinister about him, though, is the way he speaks about Hermione. While at Malfoy Manor, Greyback not only talks about wanting to eat her, but implies that he might have other plans for the young heroine.

While technically Nagini does bite the Half-Blood Prince in the movie version, it's not actually seen on-screen. The attack is fierce, violent, and bloody, which was probably a little too much to pull off in a rated PG-13 release.

Quidditch can be a violent and dangerous game, which the Harry Potter movies never shied away from depicting on screen. One moment they did leave out, though, is when the Death Eaters torture a muggle family during the Quidditch World Cup by hanging them upside down, exposing their underwear. 

In Deathly Hallows: Part I, Peter Pettigrew gets stunned by Dobby, thus ending his on-screen journey. If you take to the pages, however, Pettigrew's end is much more grim. While attempting to kill Harry, Pettigrew's artificial hand turns on him. He strangles himself to death as Harry and Ron attempt to stop his unwilling suicide.

Before becoming the Dark Lord Voldemort, a young Tom Riddle pays a visit to his family in the village of Little Hangleton. Unlike most students, however, who likely take such jaunts home to catch up with their loved ones and tell fanciful tales of their studies at Hogwarts, Tom murders his father and grandparents, then pins the blame on his uncle. Yikes.

In Deathly Hallows, Amycus Carrow spits in the face of Professor McGonagall, which Harry doens't take lightly. With a swift "Curcio," Harry hits Carrow with the Cruciatus Cruse. As the book describes it: "The Death Eater was lifted off his feet. He writhed through the air like a drowning man, thrashing and howling in pain, and then, with a crunch and a shattering of glass, he smashed into the front of a bookcase and crumpled, insensible, to the floor." Not only would this violent torture be hard to watch, but it's not a great look for Harry, either.
