The America East Conference is probably best known for one thing: The UMBC Retrievers delivering one of the most stunning March Madness upsets in history in the 2018 NCAA Tournament. UMBC was the first 16 seed ever to beat a 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Apart from that history-making victory, though, teams in the America East Conference usually don’t have much of a presence in March Madness. 

The only top stars of note to make it to the NBA after playing for America East programs are former player/current coach Rick Carlisle and retired All-Star Vin Baker.
