Vote up the moments that give you secondhand embarrassment.

With multiple camera angles, sound effects, and bad lighting, reality television gives a whole new meaning to “caught on camera.” After all, for these franchises, capturing cringeworthy moments is practically the name of the game. Ratings, anyone?

But unlike a celebrity slip-up, which can be just as awkward and career-damaging, reality stars often find themselves in situations that feel all too, well, real. There have been kitchen fails and wardrobe mishaps, hard-to-watch dates and uncomfortable first kisses, and too many drunk shenanigans to count - sound like anyone you know? We could write a whole list off shows like Jersey Shore or The Bachelor alone.

That's why all it takes is one messy moment to remind us why we love reality shows so much - we can see ourselves in them, and yet, we are all the more grateful to be entertained from the comfort of our couches.

Empowered to whip up her own snack in the kitchen, Kendall Jenner awkwardly attempted to slice up a cucumber. She admitted she was “kinda scared” and asked if cucumbers have seeds.

Her mom, Kris, looked on in concern before calling over their private chef. She apparently decided someone more qualified should take the lead with the sharp objects.

  • Hottie Cooked A Rotisserie Chicken In The Microwave On 'Flavor of Love'

Flavor of Love was VH1’s answer to The Bachelor, starring none other than Flavor Flav. On one memorable Season 1 challenge, contestant Schatar, AKA “Hottie,” tried to cook a chicken for the rapper and his mom.

“I know that my chicken is going to be the best,” Hottie told the camera, revealing her plan to incorporate vegetables into the dish. Unfortunately for the chicken, by incorporate, Hottie meant shoving carrots, marshmallows, and a bell pepper into it before popping it into the microwave for a quick spin.

Hottie's chicken was so memorable that she later ended up with her own cooking show, Poultry Princess, on Amazon Prime.

  • Ashley Got Roasted By All Of Her Suitors On 'The Bachelorette'

When The Bachelorette’s Ashley Hebert asked her suitors to roast her in Season 7, what started off as a fun date night ended in tears.

The jokes got downright mean as the guys made escalating jabs about her breast size. Ashley seemed to take things in stride, though, until one suitor, William Holman, stepped up to the podium convinced that none of the other men had understood the assignment with their “soft” sets. William seemed to prey on Ashley's biggest insecurity - that the men were disappointed she was the Bachelorette:

Ashley. So beautiful, so gorgeous, so used. They say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. I thought I signed up to be with Emily or Chantal and then Ashley’s here. Who gives a f*ck?

(William also finished his set with another dig about her body.)

When Ashley, clearly upset by the roast, quipped,  “No rose for you,” William defended himself by saying, “This was a roast. It wasn’t ‘compliment Ashley’ night.” Ashley ended the date in tears, and her early romance with William never recovered.

On the Season 10 finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race, contestant Asia O’Hara found herself in a lip-sync smackdown against Kameron Michaels. To steal the show, Asia arranged for a gorgeous display of butterflies to fly out of her dress. But when she opened the compartments for the big reveal, the butterflies were nowhere to be found.

The audience gasped in horror as Asia ran confused around the stage, the sound of Janet Jackson’s “Nasty” in the background. She ended up stealing the show for all the wrong reasons, and was eliminated.

  • Josh Failed To Kiss Emily On 'Love At First Kiss'

“I’m Josh, I’m 27, and today I’m going to kiss a girl for the first time,” smiled Josh, a participant on Love At First Kiss. The premise of the cringey social experiment show, which only lasted one season, was to see if a first kiss between total strangers could spark true love.

We’re not sure first-time kissers were what the creators had in mind. In Josh’s case, the pressure proved too much. While he did share a wildly uncomfortable looking peck with his first match-up, the second didn't happen at all. He shuffled up to his date, a girl named Emily, before staring at her for a moment, giving an awkward hug, and shuffling right back away.

Jesse Mixed Up Two Girls On 'The Bachelor,' But Let Both Of Them Stay

Most of us can barely remember what day it is, yet every year, ABC tasks a new Bachelor and Bachelorette with memorizing the names of all the contestants.

Take Season 5, when eligible bachelor Jesse Palmer mixed up a Karen and a Katie and accidentally gave a rose to the wrong girl. An amused Chris Harrison helped Jesse correct the mix-up, but only after Jesse admitted to the girls that Katie’s rose had been meant for Karen.

“I thought you’d never ask,” Karen said when she went up to accept the final rose. Bachelor Nation forgave Jesse for his bad memory, and he ended up hosting the series years later.
