Horror Sequels That Are Better Than The Original Films (According To Rotten Tomatoes), Ranked
Vote up the sequels that improved upon their Part Ones.
In the classroom scene in Scream 2, the characters argue if sequels can ever surpass the originals. Only a handful of sequels are suggested, including The Godfather Part II, T2, and House II: The Second Story. Although all three are beloved by fans, according to their Rotten Tomatoes scores, the first films in each series are actually the best.
However, the following horror films actually did surpass the originals - or, at the very least, their Rotten Tomatoes scores. In one case, every sequel in the franchise was actually better than the first. From great standalone prequels to slashers that up the gore to bloody new heights, these sequels prove the horror genre continues to learn from the past to find new ways to scare us.
Sequel's Score: 59%
Original's Score: 41%
Note: Every sequel to The Purge beat the original's score: The Purge: Election Year (55%), The First Purge (55%), and The Forever Purge (49%).
