Billy Bob Thornton is an American actor, filmmaker, singer, songwriter, and musician. Born on August 4, 1955, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Thornton embarked on his journey to stardom by moving to Los Angeles in the early 1980s to pursue acting. His breakthrough came in the form of a film he co-wrote and starred in, Sling Blade, which earned him an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and a nomination for Best Actor. Thornton's acting career is characterized by diverse roles spanning various genres, from dramas like Monster's Ball to comedies such as Bad Santa.
